Matthew 28:18-20 –
The Great Commission; “And Jesus came and spoke unto them,
saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to
observe all things I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
always, even unto the end of the world. Amen”
The Baptist Faith and Message States the Following:
“It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ to
make disciples of all nations”. We as the family of God at Mount
Zion believe it is our responsibility to share the love of Christ
first in Jerusalem, which is our community. Next we must take the
gospel into Samaria which is our Country. Lastly we share the good
news of Christ’s love to the uttermost which takes us to literally
the entire world.
Mount Zion promotes local Missions through Bible Study Classes,
involving all ages from children to adults. Bible study classes are
encouraged and expected to be involved locally in missions each
year, whether it is working at the local Little League Ball Park or
Volunteering to assist local schools with projects such as painting
classrooms or landscaping.
As a Southern Baptist Church, Mount Zion partners with the
convention by giving to the Cooperative Program. We corporately give
through normal offerings to the support of the International Mission
Board and the North American Mission Board. Our partnership with
these organizations goes further, however, in special offerings
designated as the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and the Lottie
Moon Christmas Offering.
Mount Zion is a church that believes in going as well as giving.
Mount Zion has partnered with International Missions for Christ and
the work they are doing in Kampala Uganda. The Ministry is called
Manna, which involves meeting the physical and spiritual needs of
the people who live in very dire conditions. As of 2007, two teams
have been on the ground with more being planned. Also, we take a
once a month offering to support Manna. The Mount Zion family has
been challenged to sponsor a family in Kampala with $60.00 which
will feed a family of 5 for one month. Currently, Mt. Zion’s Manna
Ministry is supporting approximately 85 families per month.
