Family: Tawana married Wayne Hurst March 7, 1980. They have two daughters, Amber Hurst Russell and Whitney Lashay Hurst. They also have two grandsons, Reagan Thomas Russell and Cohen Samuel Russell.

Education: Tawana graduated from Alexandria High School in 1979 and attended Gadsden State Community College.

Service: Tawana and Wayne have been members of Mt. Zion since February, 1991. Tawana has served on the staff of Mt. Zion since January 2000 .
